Radio broadcaster Harold Camping has predicted the world will end on Oct. 21, so it seems appropriate for us to spend a little time considering what the Bible teaches about what is commonly called the “end times.” On Oct. 16, assuming Jesus has not come back, Pastor Bob will begin a six-part series titled, “The End of the World as We Know It.”
The theological term for this topic is eschatology – the study of last things. We actually began examining eschatology in the last two sermons of the “What Christians Believe” series this past summer, when we explored “Heaven and Hell” and “The Second Coming of Christ.” But that was just the beginning of a complex subject on which there are many different views within the Christian tradition, so we will delve into the topic in more detail by exploring the following questions:
Oct. 16 – Are we now in the end times?
Oct. 23 – What is the rapture?
Nov. 13 – What is the millennium?
Nov. 20 – What are the signs of Jesus’ second coming?
Nov. 27 – Is Israel the people of God?
Dec. 4 – Who is the antichrist?
